Prepare yourselves, Earthlings.
Space Ranger Fred is officially heading to Lindfield Village Day and this time he is bringing his full-sized space suit, his books, his adventures and, knowing Fred, probably at least one completely avoidable intergalactic disaster.
Author Matt Newnham will be attending alongside the brilliant team from Mid Downs Radio, signing books, meeting families and chatting about all things Space Ranger Fred, storytelling, imagination and why exploding cakes should probably never be launched into orbit.

There is also something really important happening on the day.
Fifty percent of all profits from Space Ranger Fred book sales will go directly to support Mid Downs Radio and the fantastic work they do across the local community.
So every book bought helps support local radio, local events and local people.
Which is rather wonderful.
Why Mid Downs Radio Matters
Now before Zando Centauri interrupts this article by pressing buttons he should not touch, let us talk about Mid Downs Radio for a moment.
Local radio stations like Mid Downs Radio are incredibly important.
They support community groups, charities, schools, local events and local voices. They help people stay connected and informed and they shine a spotlight on the things happening right here in Sussex.
They are also run by people who genuinely care.
That matters.
In a world filled with giant social media platforms and endless scrolling, local radio still feels human. Real conversations. Real people. Real communities.
Space Ranger Fred is proud to support them at Lindfield Village Day and hopefully help raise funds while having a lot of fun along the way.
Meet a Full-Sized Space Ranger Fred
Yes.
A real full-sized Space Ranger Fred will be attending.
Well… as real as a fictional space ranger from a STEM-inspired children’s book universe can be.
Children will be able to meet Fred, take photos, explore the books and dive into the wonderfully strange universe that includes alien emperors, runaway gadgets, exploding cakes, giant space adventures and one very confused dog called Jupiter.

Parents should be warned that Fred occasionally attracts chaos.
This is largely because of Zando Centauri, who once attempted to repair a spacecraft dashboard using a spoon, two paperclips and what he described as “advanced intergalactic engineering”.
The spacecraft exploded shortly afterwards.
Books, Stories and Big Imaginations
At its heart, Space Ranger Fred has always been about imagination.
The books are designed to make children laugh, think, question and explore. Hidden underneath the humour and the ridiculous adventures are real ideas connected to science, curiosity, communication and problem-solving.
Children learn best when they are enjoying themselves.
That has always been the mission.
Reading should feel exciting.
It should feel like an adventure.
It should feel like stepping into another universe where absolutely anything might happen next.
At school visits, Matt often talks about how stories can help children build confidence, ask questions and discover that learning does not need to feel boring or intimidating.
Sometimes the best way to explain a scientific idea is through an alien emperor trying to bake a Uranian Rocket Cake in zero gravity.
Oddly enough, it works.
Why Events Like Lindfield Village Day Matter
There is something genuinely special about village days.
They bring people together properly.
Not through screens or apps or notifications, but face-to-face. Families wandering through stalls. Children laughing. Community groups raising awareness. Local businesses connecting with people. Volunteers giving their time simply because they care about where they live.
That sense of community matters enormously.
Especially now.
Lindfield Village Day has become one of those brilliant local events that reminds everyone how much energy and goodness still exists in local communities.
And honestly, any event where you can meet a space ranger, support local radio and leave carrying a signed children’s book feels like a fairly successful day out.
Come and Join the Adventure
If you are attending Lindfield Village Day, make sure you come and say hello.

The Space Ranger Fred universe has grown from one story into something much bigger involving schools, STEM learning, imagination, reading and helping children rediscover the joy of books.
And it all continues one conversation, one child and one adventure at a time.
We cannot wait to see you there.
Just keep Zando away from the electrical equipment.
