Matt Newnham is the author and creator of Space Ranger Fred, a series of fun, imaginative stories that take children on adventures across the galaxy. His books are filled with humour, curiosity, and simple science that makes learning about space and how things work exciting and easy to understand.

Matt was born in England in 1969 and has always loved stories, space, and finding out how things work. Before becoming a full-time writer, he worked in farming and later in marketing, but his heart was always in storytelling. The idea for Space Ranger Fred began when he wrote a story for an English teacher who wanted a fun way to talk to her class about space. The children loved it, and from that moment, Fred’s adventures took off.

Since then, Space Ranger Fred has grown into a world of its own. Children everywhere enjoy Fred’s crazy ideas, his adventures with the eccentric Space Ranger Zando Centauri, and his faithful dog, Jupiter. Parents and teachers love that the stories are not only funny but also help children think about science, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Matt believes that learning should always be fun. In his stories, he hides little bits of science and engineering in ways that make children curious to discover more. Every adventure is full of laughter and lessons, whether it’s a countdown timer that needs a good smack to work, a spaceship powered by something completely ridiculous, or a clever gadget made from household items.

Today, Space Ranger Fred is blasting off beyond the books. Matt is working with a talented team from around the world to turn Fred’s adventures into an animated TV series and a video game. The goal is to help children everywhere discover how exciting science and space can be while having fun and using their imagination.

When Matt isn’t writing, he enjoys exploring new ideas, drinking coffee, and coming up with inventions that might one day appear in a story. He lives in West Sussex, England, and still believes that imagination is one of the most powerful forces in the universe.

Through Space Ranger Fred, Matt hopes to inspire children to be curious, creative, and brave — and to see that even the biggest problems can be solved with a bit of thinking, teamwork, and laughter.
