There’s something rather magical about the moment a new Space Ranger Fred book goes live for pre-order. Months of imagination, laughter, and creative chaos finally become real. Today, I’m thrilled to share that Space Ranger Fred and the Great Galactic Bake Off is officially available for pre-order on Amazon.
This latest intergalactic adventure has been one of my most enjoyable writing experiences yet. It’s funny, messy, and full of surprises – and, as always, it’s got a dash of learning baked right in.

So, grab your apron, tie those shoelaces (Fred would insist on that), and get ready for a cosmic cooking contest like no other!
From the Shoelace Adventure to the Bake Off
If you’ve followed Space Ranger Fred since his first outing, Space Ranger Fred and the Shoelace Adventure, you’ll know that Fred isn’t your average hero. He’s curious, inventive, and just a little bit clumsy – the sort of boy who can save the galaxy and forget where he left his lunch in the same afternoon.
Over the years, Fred has rocketed from one wild escapade to another with his trusty dog Jupiter and the delightfully eccentric Zando Centauri, an alien whose gadgets make absolutely no sense but somehow always work (eventually).
Each story has its own mix of science, laughter, and heart. The Great Galactic Bake Off continues that tradition, but this time with a delicious twist.
A Cosmic Competition Like No Other
The Great Galactic Bake Off began as one of those ideas that popped into my head when I least expected it. What if the entire galaxy held a baking competition? What would aliens bake? What happens when someone forgets the gravity setting on the oven?
Before I knew it, Fred was in the middle of a baking contest with stakes higher than the icing on a triple-tier space cake.
Without giving too much away, here’s the setup: Fred and Zando are invited to take part in the galaxy’s most prestigious event – the Great Galactic Bake Off. Competitors from every corner of the cosmos have gathered to impress the judges with their extraordinary creations. But when one of the ovens explodes (don’t worry, it’s only mildly catastrophic), Fred realises that there’s more to this competition than meets the eye.
There are strange ingredients, suspicious rivals, and a mystery that only a true Space Ranger can solve.
The result? A fast-paced, funny, and slightly sticky adventure that celebrates creativity, problem-solving, and friendship – with plenty of cake crumbs along the way.
STEM Learning That’s Fun (and Delicious)
At the heart of every Space Ranger Fred story is a simple idea: learning should be fun.
I’ve always believed that science, technology, engineering, and maths – the STEM subjects – can inspire wonder when presented with imagination and humour.
In The Great Galactic Bake Off, Fred and Zando use a mix of science and logic to solve problems that would make even the calmest home baker break into a sweat. From experimenting with zero-gravity mixing bowls to calculating baking times on different planets, every page offers a playful nod to real-world science.
Children don’t even realise they’re learning – they’re too busy laughing at what happens when a space whisk malfunctions or when Jupiter (Fred’s dog) gets his paws on a bowl of blue icing.
It’s the kind of book that invites curiosity. “Could that really happen?” is a question I love hearing from young readers. Whether it’s exploring chemical reactions, understanding temperature, or learning why things rise (in cakes and in rockets), these adventures gently introduce scientific ideas through storytelling.
Writing Fred’s Latest Adventure
When I began writing Space Ranger Fred and the Great Galactic Bake Off, I wanted to capture something that every child (and adult) can relate to – the joy of making something from scratch, the mess that comes with it, and the pride when it finally works out.
I’ve always believed that creativity and curiosity are two sides of the same coin. Baking, much like science, is about experimenting, observing, and adjusting. You try, fail, and try again. Sometimes your cake collapses. Sometimes it explodes (if you’re Fred). But every mistake is a step towards discovery.
In this story, Fred learns that even when things go wrong, there’s always a way to make them right – and sometimes the best creations come from accidents.
That’s a message I hope resonates with readers of all ages. After all, creativity isn’t about perfection; it’s about having the courage to try, to imagine, and to laugh along the way.
The Team Behind the Book
A Space Ranger Fred story is never a solo mission. Behind every book are talented illustrators, editors, and supporters who help bring Fred’s world to life.
The illustrations for The Great Galactic Bake Off are vibrant, funny, and full of energy – capturing every moment of flying flour and wobbling jelly perfectly. The artwork gives young readers plenty to spot and giggle over, while the story provides layers of imagination for parents and teachers to enjoy too.
This book also ties in beautifully with our broader Space Ranger Fred universe – including the upcoming animation project and video game. It’s part of a much bigger vision to make learning adventurous and accessible to children everywhere.
For those who’ve supported the Space Ranger Fred journey since the beginning, this book is a celebration of how far we’ve come. And for new readers, it’s the perfect place to start.
Why Pre-Orders Matter (and How You Can Help)
Pre-ordering might seem like a small thing, but for independent authors, it makes a huge difference. Every early order helps raise the book’s visibility, encourages retailers to stock more copies, and shows readers around the world that there’s excitement building.
If you’ve enjoyed Fred’s previous adventures, I’d be incredibly grateful if you could pre-order Space Ranger Fred and the Great Galactic Bake Off today.
Pre-orders also unlock early reviews, which are vital for spreading the word. If you’re a parent, teacher, librarian, or simply someone who loves imaginative children’s books, your voice really helps independent authors like me reach more young readers.
Who the Book Is For
The Space Ranger Fred series is written for children aged 6–12, but I’ve been told more than once that adults have just as much fun reading them. Teachers have used Fred’s adventures to spark classroom discussions, parents have enjoyed bedtime giggles, and children have proudly shown off their “Space Ranger skills” at home.
The Great Galactic Bake Off is perfect for:
- Young readers who enjoy science, humour, and adventure.
- Parents and grandparents who love sharing stories that make kids laugh and think.
- Teachers looking for books that blend fun storytelling with STEM learning.
- Fans of baking shows who wonder what happens when the Great British Bake Off meets outer space.
This book can stand alone, but if you’ve read The Shoelace Adventure, you’ll recognise plenty of familiar faces (and one or two brand-new ones too).
What’s Next for Fred?
The Space Ranger Fred universe is expanding faster than a batch of over-proved dough. Alongside the books, we’re working with an award-winning animation studio to bring Fred’s world to life on screen.
A pilot episode is in the works, along with a video game and learning platform that turns Fred’s adventures into hands-on STEM exploration.
It’s an ambitious and exciting time. What started as a simple story about a boy, his dog, and some shoelaces has grown into a universe of creativity, laughter, and learning that’s now reaching a global audience.
And it all begins with readers like you. Every pre-order, every share, every chat about Fred at school or in a book club helps build that world a little bigger.
A Word of Thanks
Writing children’s books is one of the greatest joys of my life. Every time I hear from a young reader who says, “I want to be a Space Ranger,” I’m reminded why these stories matter. They’re not just about aliens and gadgets; they’re about curiosity, courage, and kindness.
Thank you to everyone who’s supported Fred’s adventures so far – from families and teachers to reviewers, booksellers, and fans around the world. Your encouragement keeps the rockets flying and the cakes rising (most of the time).
So, here’s to Fred, Jupiter, Zando, and the Great Galactic Bake Off. May your ovens stay stable, your cakes stay upright, and your imaginations run wild.
